Thoughts We Had While Watching PSL Opening Ceremony

Cricket lovers went nuts last night as PSL officially started yesterday with a lit opening ceremony at Dubai. Here are all the thoughts we had while watching the PSL 2018 opening ceremony:

Trophy and Team Presentations:

The PSL trophy glided its way through the crowd midair. The model that was carrying it was a little scared and so were the people as it looked like she will fall down any time.
But the spectacular trophy handover was done successfully. After that, all the teams were announced with the announcement of expansion franchise – The Multan Sultans. Soon after, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalanders and Peshawar Zalmi joined the rest of them.
The Quetta Gladiators, who were the two time finalists came at the end, which was a different thing as traditionally the defending champions(PeshawarZalmi) have the honor to be introduced last.

There were some great performances throughout and this is what we think of all of them.

Sachal Orchestra:

The ceremony kicked off with Sachal Orchestra playing the national anthem that really gave us goosebumps and honestly it was one of those few things the crowd seemed to like that night. Their performance was followed by the official countdown of PSL that in true sense, let cricket lovers experience the epic adrenaline feels!

AbidaPerveen’s performance:

The ultimate Sufi legend’s performance was undoubtedly the best thing of that night. She is truly our valuable asset who made the whole crowd “mast” through her magical and soothing Sufi style performance.

Shehzad Roy:

Shehzaaaaaad Roy ladies and gentlemen, definitely proved last night that he will never get old. His performance was so good that we actually started missing all his songs that we used to hear and inside our hearts we all wished to see him on our screens more often!

Ali Zafar:

Ali Zafar’s clumsy and uncool entrance was the epic depiction of me entering 2018. It looked like a wanna-be Michael Jackson entrance which obviously turned out be a disaster as fear was the only thing that we noticed in Ali’s performance when he was in the air. But let,s give him the credit for his official PSL anthem “Dil Se JaanLagaday” which is so catchy that we’re guessing that this might be something that will be on a lot of people’s mind for the whole season!

Hareem Farooq and Bilal Ashraf

Hareem Farooq and Bilal Ashraf portrayed the true struggles of a middle child on stage as nobody seemed to care about what those two were saying. The crowd was so dull and Hareem’s enthusiasm was just the opposite of that which made it a little weird and awkward. Also, Hareem’s dress was so bling bling and colorful that it gave us the impression that she had just gotten back from a desi wedding. We also couldn’t help but noticing that Bilal Ashraf, even though has a pretty face but sadly, that was all that he was that night as he too, failed to host a successful event. But as soon as the legend of all times Ramiz Raja took over their place, the crowd was alive again

Jason Derulo:

PSL continued its tradition this year too by inviting international stars to the ceremony. Sean Paul(2016), Shaggy(2017) to Jason Derulo this year, PSL is stepping up its game every season. He performed his “Want to Want Me” which the crowd really seemed to like and his “AssalamOAlaikum” in the end was a surprise to many of the people there!

Lastly, the fireworks at the end of the ceremony were beautiful and left the crowd awestruck. With the fireworks starting and the ceremony coming to an end, it meant that the stage was now all set for the match.

So, that’ s almost everything that happened last night on the PSL 2018 opening ceremony. What are your thoughts on this?
