Ramzan is not only the month of fasting, but also the month of giving Zakat. Muslims, throughout the world, contribute to charity and donate to less fortunate people in this month. In continuance to this spirit, Coca-Cola and Edhi foundation have announced their partnership, once again this year.
Edhi foundation is Pakistan’s leading humanitarian and social welfare services organization. Like last year, this year again Coca Cola has announced to continue its ‘Eid for Edhi’ campaign.
Statement given by the GM of Coca Cola
Rizwan U Khan, general manager of Coca-Cola, Pakistan and Afghanistan, gave his statement about this partnership.
Going further, Mr Khan stated that it is our moral responsibility to support Edhi Foundation. Rizwan further claimed that the weight of this responsibility is higher now since the organization is facing difficulties raising funds.
The general manager of Coca Cola was very clear about the company’s fund raising spirit. Explaining further, Rizwan stated that this campaign is in all aspects altruistic; Coca Cola and Edhi foundation are standing together for a noble cause. Mr. Khan further stated that this fundraising is not related to product purchase, from any angle.
Faisal Edhi, the current leader of the foundation
Edhi Foundation has been functioning on public support from the start. The donations always spike during the month of Ramadan. But with the demise of the founding leader, the foundation started struggling.
Faisal Edhi, the son of late Abdul Sattar Edhi, is currently leading the organization.
Faisal has appreciated Coca Cola’s efforts a lot in raising funds. Last year’s campaign helped the foundation raise considerable funds, Faisal acknowledged.
Last Year’s Bottle of Change Campaign
Coca Cola and Edhi Foundation have partnered in a multi-faceted fundraising campaign. This campaign was named “Bottle of Change”. Moreover, Coca Cola planned and executed this campaign throughout the country. One of the main features of this campaign is that Coca Cola company will double the amount of all donations received. This amount has an upper cap, limiting it to Rs. 25 million. In addition to this, the company will also be investing huge amounts of money on a publicity campaign for Edhi Foundation.
Various celebrities and bloggers joined hands with coke and promoted #BottleOfChange via their live videos:
