UCL semi finals 2018

The UCL semi finals happened on 24th and 25th of April 2018.

The first legs of the UCL Semi Finals 2018 were long awaited matches and a treat to watch for all football fans alike. The top 4 teams of Europe battled it out for European glory and we bring to you the complete results and round up of the games.

Liverpool vs Roma and Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid are important fixtures. While Bayern and RM have reached recent semis, Roma and Liverpool fans have waited long for this to happen.

Liverpool vs Roma UCL Semi Finals 2018

The fixture was a very important one as both teams have reached the top 4 after a very long time. Roma were a surprise entry as they swung back a 4-1 deficit against FC Barcelona and stepped into the semis with an away goal win. Liverpool FC last won the UCL in 2005, more than a decade ago. Now their chances of winning the title are as strong as they can get.

Liverpool FC came into the match with a winning mentality and Mo Salah.

They beat Roma with a whopping 5-2, Mohammad Salah being involved in all five goals. The extraordinary performance by the Egyptian came right after he won the PFA 2018. Mo Salah has been amazing all season and there is more on that here.

Liverpool scored the first 5 goals and when they were comfortably winning Klopp pulled out Salah. Roma struck back with 2 away goals but Liverpool pretty much have the final spot in their reach. The five goals were courtesy of two from Salah, two from Firmino and one from Sadio Mane. Roma’s two goals came from Dzeko and Perotti (P).

The second leg will be played on 2nd of May, 2018.

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid UCL Semi Finals 2018

Much like the Quarter Finals of UCL 2017, the titans from Germany and Spain met in the semis this year. However, Bayern Munich looked shaky from the beginning as Robben and Boateng returned injured to the stands in the first half. Although Bayern scored the first goal coming from Kimmich in the 27th minute, this was pretty much the only good that came from them.

Bayern Munich were poor in defense and they missed many great opportunities in front of goal. The defending champions Real Madrid are the kings of UCL and they cashed on Bayern’s bad form. Marcelo and Asensio scored a goal each and Real Madrid won the match 1-2.

The two away goals have given Real Madrid a massive advantage over Bayern and they are likely going to win.

Real Madrid are looking for their third consecutive Champions League title and hope to make history with the win.

The second legs of the fixture is set to be on 1st of May, 2018.
